Featuring the artwork of D. Tom Conboy

Rural Rails Crossing is a collection of my thoughts about the experience of painting rural and railroad scenes. Watercolor is my medium of choice, and my painting style is impressionistic. I am not trying to render a photographic image of the place, but to capture the "mood" of the location.

The Road to Town

Title: The Road to Town*
Size: 5 x 7 inches
Medium: Watercolor
Original/Print: Original

My wife and I love to go out for long drives. We have visited most of the eastern half of Missouri as well as southern Illinois. We both enjoy taking the back roads instead of the Interstate. One of the reasons we like driving the back roads is to see the old towns and structures that still remain. These old 'relics' are really fascinating and interesting. They also make great subjects for paintings!

This watercolor is not of any particular location. It is a representation of what you see on many back roads in the Midwest.
