Featuring the artwork of D. Tom Conboy

Rural Rails Crossing is a collection of my thoughts about the experience of painting rural and railroad scenes. Watercolor is my medium of choice, and my painting style is impressionistic. I am not trying to render a photographic image of the place, but to capture the "mood" of the location.

A Winter's Day

Title: A Winter's Day
Size: 5 x 7 inches
Medium:
Watercolor
Original/Print:
Original

I painted this watercolor for a "Painting Giveaway" on my Facebook page. I was trying out some new techniques from a Sterling Edwards' video I had recently purchased. I have to say that I am pleased with the results. I also purchased one of Sterling's blending brushes which is actually a bristle brush. I like the way it makes evergreen trees. I will be experimenting with this brush to see what other effects I can achieve with it.

Congratulations to Lori Beggs! She was the winner of this original painting.
