Featuring the artwork of D. Tom Conboy

Rural Rails Crossing is a collection of my thoughts about the experience of painting rural and railroad scenes. Watercolor is my medium of choice, and my painting style is impressionistic. I am not trying to render a photographic image of the place, but to capture the "mood" of the location.

Fishing With Dad

Medium:

The inspiration for this painting comes from the town of Grafton, Illinois which is located along the Mississippi River. While the colors are a bit blue for this section of the Mississippi River, the scene is very close. My goal was not to make a photographic record, but to capture the mood of the scene. Goal achieved!!

This painting was purchased by a dear friend of mine from high school. It reminded her of those times she went fishing with her dad. Knowing that makes me smile!
